What data are you collecting?

The Tobii Pro Attention panel examines people's natural surfing behaviour and measures advertisement exposure. Essentially, this means we’re collecting eye movements in relation to online advertisements that you come across when casually surfing the internet.

Will it be invasive?

First and foremost, the data collected will be entirely anonymous and cannot be traced back to unique individuals. Eye movements will be analysed entirely through gauze meaning that we are unable to see anything else (including your eyes or face). Any data collected and saved during this process is done entirely in accordance with GDPR guidelines. 

GDPR

The only data that will be able to collect is that of your eye gauze in relation to online advertisement exposure and the main URL that this was conducted.

As previously mentioned, your personally identifiable information (such as name and email) will be completely separated from data generated from eye gauze. The only reason your name and email are saved to our system is for incentivizing you for taking part and reward you for being a panel member.

All personal data is created, updated and deleted when a panel member joins and/or leaves our panel.

What will I need to do?

The technology associated with this study will use the webcam on your own device or Tobii will lend you an eye tracker. You will have to install a chrome extension onto your computer or mobile device and then simply surf the internet as normal.

By joining the Tobii study, you are agreeing to completing a minimum of 45 Minutes of web surfing per month using either the Tobii device provided or your own. Failure to meet the minimum requirement could result in you being classified as an in-active participant and not receiving your incentives.

If you are classified as an in-active participant for more then 8 weeks you will be automatically be removed from the panel. You will be contacted at least 3 times during a period of in activity to assist you to re-activate your participation.

If you are using a Tobii eye tracking device, you will be responsible for returning the eye tracker upon the study’s completion or if you are deemed in-active. We will provide you with a prepaid return label and a box to easily return the item in. If you lose your return label please contact us at [email protected] to provide you with a new one.

Terms and conditions of being lent an eye tracker:

If you are a participant using a Tobii eye tracking device, Norstat will lend you the device for the duration of the study. The primary aim of this loan is for the use of investigating the study’s primary objectives surrounding eye tracking in relation to digital advertisement exposure. You will be unable to resell, repackage or redistribute this product at any time. You will also be expected to return the device using the prepaid label provide to you.  By proceeding with this study, you are automatically assumed to have acknowledged and to have offered your compliance with the above terms and conditions.
